Therefore we recommend starting your tour early in the morning. A visit in the Salt Mine will take around 2,5 hours with a local professional English-speaking guide. During Salt Mine tour, you’ll visit an underground world of Wieliczka Salt Mine. It features 20 beautiful chambers, chapels and even an underground lake. The standard route is almost 3 km long, 135 m deep and features over 800 stairs! During the walk you’ll pass through multiple corridors, chapels, statues, and see the mesmerizing underground lake.

The Salt Mine reaches a depth of 327 meters! The most impressive of all underground chambers, St. Kinga’s Chapel is located 101 m under ground. This 54 m long and almost 12 m high stunning chapel is completely carved in salt. Its beautiful interiors were designed to resemble wooden walls like in medieval churches. The chapel is lit by several chandeliers made out of salt crystals.

You can also choose to visit he mine by Miners’ Route. For this option you’ll get special clothes and professional equipment. A guide will lead you through unknown chambers making you feel as a real miner. This includes squeezing, kneeling down and even crawling so the physical effort is much bigger than during the standard track.

It’s good to know several tips before going on Warsaw to Wieliczka Salt Mine Tour:

  • The temperature in Salt Mine is usually around 12-15 Celsius degrees – don’t forget to take warm clothes!
  • It’s good to have comfortable shoes as for the most time the route is uneven.
  • During the walk you’ll have around 15 min break in the place with bathroom, snacks/drinks to buy and unique souvenirs shops.
